St Patrick's 2012

Weekend O'Fun at The Pub!

It is indeed the biggest day in the Irish Pub year, and as such, we generally recommend NOT visiting us on this day! The lines will be long, the service will be delayed and you'll be extremely fortunate to find a table to rest your pint in a plastic cup on. This year will be a wee bit more challenging than usual too because its also Parade Day in Dallas, AND there's an Ireland V England Rugby match on around noon too!  We'll stretch the space a little for this year by adding our neighbors space too, we'll host the Rugby matches in there instead of the Pub, and if the weather doesn't cooperate we'll have overflow seating there throughout the day.

If we could fit everyone in, we would... we're in business after all! Unfortunately the Pub just doesn't get any bigger than it was the day before the holiday, and once the first fill is in we will have to have a line form outside the door. Becuase of the various events all coinciding on St Pats Day, we will be strictly allowing only those that are over 21 in on the day, and ID will be required. This is a departure from our usual policy, but we are planning our Family Holiday celebration for Sunday to allow families with children to come join us in a more conducive atmosphere the next day.

Thanks Leo For Some Great Pics !

We're delighted to have host Derek and the Young Wolfe Tones for the fourth year, and we're looking to our 5th!

Its our way of saying Thank You to our community before our Holiday season begins, and the Pub can get a little busy, but we know where we come from and thank you for being the guests you are all year long!

Next Year, You'll Have To Join Us

SUNDAY 18th MARCH

~ Irish Family Celebration & Ceili ~

A great way to enjoy the holiday surrounded by family & community, a lot less crowded, definitely more seating available and the added treat of Ceili Dancing for all!  The Trinity Hall Session Players extend their usual sets to play with us from 2PM - 7PM, Ceili Dancing with Michael & Susan Harrison leading the steps begins at 3 PM with all welcome to join in and learn how to Ceili with the best of them! FOOD SERVICE

A reduced Menu will be offered during the holiday events, while we can assist with dietary & special preparation needs,  items will take longer than usual due to the much higher volume of items being prepared.  Our neighboring restaurants will be open and a little less busy, so it may be a great day to visit Rockfish, Margarita Ranch, Reikyu Sushi, Cafe Express, Urban Taco or Vapiano for a bite to eat before coming up to the pub for afternoon song!

CREDIT CARDS VS CASH?

We're delighted to take cards, however not every bar outlet  will be able to accept a card, and if they do the time required to run it will dramatically slow down your experience with us. We do not have an ATM service in the Pub, there are ATM's located in the lobby of Angelika & around the corner at the Bank. To avoid undue processing delays we will enforce a $20 minimum for all Credit transactions. We recommend using TabbedOut on your Android or Iphone to open and settle your tabs at the Pub, no card swipe, no signatures, you're in control and the bartenders keep pouring!

PARKING & SHUTTLES

Many of our guests join us after a visit to the Greenville Avenue Parade, there is lots of parking on DART's lots surrounding Mockingbird Station and for guests at any of the retailers there are over 1000 spaces below us in the underground parking lots.

Park & Ride, of course the best option is to leave the cars at home! Take a taxi to your closest DART Station, ride DART to Mockingbird Station and then take the free shuttles to the parade & street party.

DOOR POLICIES

We will be very stringent about admission with the priority focus being the safety & well-being of the guests already admitted.

Therefore all guests will be asked for ID's. Because there are a number of events and parties in the area, we will refuse admission to anyone that we feel may be disruptive to our event.  Although not expected, should a guest be asked to leave at any time, they will not be offered refunds of any monies spent.   Once an admission waiting line is formed,  we will be required in the spirit of good faith,  to offer entry on a next-in-line basis only. There are no in & out privileges, or advance reservations offered.

COMING WITH A GROUP? Gather everyone before going inside, unfortunately late arrivals cannot be permitted to move ahead of the guests that are waiting.  A cover charge will be applied once a line is formed. The charge may vary, based on demand, and is another method of reducing the number of guests willing to wait and thus speed up the process!

VIP'S / BEST FRIENDS / REGULARS

We hope that our special guests & friends of the Pub will understand that it will be impossible for us to know who is in the line outside and look for ways to smuggle them past the guests who are already waiting. We'd like to think that everyone that is waiting to join us is a best friend, regular & VIP, we hope not to offend anyone but we will strive to to be fair to all.

PLEASE DON'T SAY OR PRINT "PATTY'S DAY" ANY MORE!

March 17th Celebrates The Anniversary of the Death of St. Patrick, a Welshman, who became Patron Saint of Ireland.  St Patrick = Naomh Pádraig {Naomh "knave"~ Pádraig "paw-raig"}= St Paddy

Patricia  - Patty (St Patty = NOT the saint of anywhere in particular, closest we can find is Patricia of Naples)

** Saint Patricia of Naples (or Patricia of Constantinople) (Italian: Santa Patrizia) (died ca. 665 AD) is an Italian virgin martyr and saint. Tradition states that she was noble; she may have been related to theRoman Emperor. Some sources say that she was a descendant of Constantine the Great.[1] Wishing to escape an marriage arranged by Constans II and become a nun, she went to Rome. There she received the veil from Pope Liberius. Upon the death of her father, she returned to Constantinople and, renouncing any claim to the imperial crown, distributed her wealth to the poor. She then planned to go on pilgrimage to Jerusalem. However, a terrible storm shipwrecked her on the shores of Naples. Finding refuge on the tiny island of Megarides (the site of the present-day Castel dell'Ovo), the site of a small hermitage, Patricia died shortly after from disease. (From Wikipedia)  St Patrick born 387AD and returned to heaven 461 AD.

I know many believe that there is no difference between Paddy and Patty, but if you're name is Patricia there is!  Ok another way of saying it is, since its his day, we should probably be better about using his correct name. Perhaps if we do the good Saint will look kindly on our efforts and help us celebrate with good weather, full parade routes, and the best of Irish luck for the year ahead!  Please pass along to your very best friends, especially if they say or print "St Patty's " this season! Lets stop the abuse of St Patrick in 2012!
